About Nighthawks Theatre Spotlight

What We Do

Support and Recognize

Production Support

Theater productions have many moving parts, both visible and behind the scenes.  We strive to help support this when we can with volunteer coordination and grant funding.

Student Recognition

The students in drama productions are hard working and dedicated.  Their efforts deserve to be recognized.  We strive to make sure that happens!

Membership

Every parent and guardian of a drama student is welcome to be a member at no cost.  Because these are student productions, we recognize nothing happens without parent input and support!

Patronage

Just like all programs, theater costs money.  Your patronage helps us support the amazing shows these students perform.  Your support helps in more ways than you know!

What We Strive To Do:

Theater is a year-round activity at Newtown High School. The season begins with back-to-school auditions for the fall drama, which is ready for the stage in November. By January, the Unified Theater program is debuting an original production created and led by students. Students then work throughout the winter to welcome spring with the annual musical in March.

All of our performances rely on community and volunteer support. Donations and proceeds from ticket sales, program advertisements, concessions, and raffles enable the drama department to mount beautiful, intricate productions that showcase students’ talents and challenge them creatively. Volunteers build sets, sell tickets, feed performers, and complete the enumerated unseen activities that bring a show to life.

Nighthawks Theatre Spotlight provides a consistent, reliable structure for celebrating student involvement in the dramatic arts. We are focused on volunteerism, student recognition, and production needs. Parents and guardians of students participating in NHS drama programs are included as organizational members at no cost. We are grateful to families and community members who choose to also become patrons, which helps us offer this inclusive membership model.

Our organization was launched with a foundational grant from the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission. We are operating as an NHS booster activity as we apply for 501c(3) status. Your donations remain tax-deductible.
